    Responsibilities & Requirements

    Responsibilities:

    • The Manager of Medical Staff Services handles the overall functions of the medical staff services department, which involves acting as the liaison to the medical staff and its officers, hospital leadership and external stakeholders. The manager will effectively, professionally and engagingly interact with the hospitals’ medical staff. 
    • The manager of Medical Staff Services handles compliance and adherence to all medical staff sections of the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program, hospital administrative and state and federal regulatory issues.  The manager of Medical Staff Services will plan, organize, coordinate and direct activities related to the hospital-wide Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program.
    • The manager will provide recruitment, coaching, development, supervision, evaluation and disciplinary functions of medical staff services employees.
    • The manager will oversee the credentialing/privileging and reappointment processes of the medical staff and allied health practitioners.  The manager handles departmental action plans, business plans and budgets. 
    • The manager eases the productive involvement of the hospitals’ medical staff and allied health practitioners to enable them to fulfill their duties and obligations as defined by the medical staff bylaws, as delegated by the hospital’s Board of Directors.
    • The medical staff manager assumes responsibility for adherence to the organizational and departmental policies and procedures as well as the bylaws and related manuals for the medical staff. The manager will oversee the administrative staff that supports the Vice President of Medical Affairs, the officers, department and section chairs and committee chairs.  The manager reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
    • Training and/or experience that includes supervisory and management roles.
    • Working knowledge of general medical terminology.
    • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in hospital, preferable in Medical Staff Services Office.
    • Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: NAMSS – Certification in Medical Staff Management Services or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist
