This position is responsible for creating (if necessary) and implementing all training and development of all front-line staff of the Environmental Services teams at the Kettering Medical Center, Sycamore Medical Center, Kettering Behavioral Medical Center, Soin Medical Center, Greene Memorial Hospital, Grandview Medical Center, Southview Medical Center and Fort Hamilton Hospital as well as any other KHN facility as assigned by Network Director.

Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Develop, implement, and monitor training programs within all KHN facilities as assigned.
  • Supervise technical training for staff.
  • Maintain all EVS staff training records (ITR) according to HFAP standards at each facility.
  • Conduct new hire orientation sessions.
  • Create departmental brochures and training materials.
  • Develop multimedia visual aids and presentations.
  • Create testing and evaluation processes.
  • Prepare and implement Network Standardized training program.
  • Evaluate needs of each facility and plan training programs accordingly.
  • Conduct quality performance evaluations with follow ups to EVS Managers.
  • Provide each facility with classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Provide performance feedback.
  • Conduct continuing education training for all EVS staff and maintain Annual Competency records for all staff.
  • Provide leadership development education to any front-line staff member wanting to peruse a leadership position in the future.
  • Build solid cross-functional relationships.
  • Provide logistical support, course development, delivery, evaluation, process measurements, and cost management.
  • Identify, train and establish facility based trainers at each facility.
  • Assist with the development of strategic plans.
  • Coordinate and supervise completion of all staff required annual Network training thru HealthStreams.
  • Coordinate and supervise all activities of Training Coordinators.
  • Other duties as assigned by Network Director.


Education:  Bachelor’s Degree or combination of education and relevant experience.


Experience: Must have a minimum of 2-4 years of progressive EVS healthcare setting training experience and staff development.


  • Proven work experience as a Training Coordinator, Trainer, Training Facilitator of similar role


  • Hands-on experience coordinating multiple training events within a healthcare setting


  • Familiar and knowledgeable regarding EVS cleaning regulatory standards


  • Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate)


  • Familiarity with EVS job training methods and techniques


  • Experience with various multimedia training platforms


  • MS Office proficiency


  • Advanced organizational skills with ability to handle multiple assignments


  • Strong communication and presentation skills


  • Must have demonstrated commitment to customer service and understanding of patient experience initiatives as they relate to EVS


  • Must have knowledge of hospital systems operation and practices and possess the ability to accept change and constructive criticism
