Department overview

The Core Laboratory department has been open since the opening of Soin Medical Center. This department has been heavily updated over the last two years, to stay ahead of the technological advances in the medical laboratory field. We are continuing to grow to support the needs of the organization.


We have a mix of seasoned Med Techs and Clinical Lab Assistants and new graduate Med Techs and Clinical Lab Assistants. The department has improved efficiency and productivity through training and having new laboratory equipment.


The Core Laboratory department is a large supporter of continuing education. Clinical Lab Assistants have advanced their education and obtained certifications as Medical Laboratory Technologist.

Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Performs pre-analytic processing of specimens; collects specimens; accessions, labels and distributes specimens including blood samples by venipuncture and capillary puncture in all patient areas
  • Instructs patients in the collection of urine samples and tolerance test in in all patient areas.
  • Other duties assigned


  • Must be at least 18 years old and/or high school graduation or the equivalent.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-year experience preferred and/or graduation from phlebotomy program
