Kettering Health Main Campus

  • Kettering Health Main Campus, formerly Kettering Medical Center, is the flagship hospital of Kettering Health and has been serving Kettering, Ohio and the Greater Dayton area since 1964.
  • The facility includes the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Heart Hospital, maternity service with a level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and level II Emergency Care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years experience required
  • One (1) year leadership experince preferred
  • CRCST required

 

    Shift Team Leader Responsibilities, in addition to standard Sterile Processing Tech responsibilities:

  • Building a positive work environment requires commitment from all staff.  The individual’s participation and support of this effort is critical to the mission of the department and the organization
    • Provides direct oversight of all sterile instrumentation management functions and performs problem solving and evaluation of service provided.
    • Provides tracking of all loan/borrow functions, recalls, and equipment repairs on the assigned shift.
    • Serves as a role model for new staff and facilitates, along with the Manager, their learning and orientation to the department.
    • Completes daily Shift Report to provide effective communication between shifts.
    • Demonstrates, coordinates, and provides effective communication to processing and decontamination staff regarding the priority of instrumentation in the order that needs to be completed first.
    • Consistently displays professional conduct during interactions (co-workers, peers, members of interdisciplinary team, throughout organization).
    • Holds all staff to high expectations of continuous professional conduct, de-escalates turmoil, and does not contribute to negative conversations within the department.
  • Quality is defined through accuracy, efficiency, outcomes as well as other measurements to ensure that patient care is held at a high level.
    • Is able to demonstrate knowledge of surgical supplies and their basic uses.
    • Utilizes Epic to identify and review usage needs
    • Ensure compliance with established regulatory standards, hospital, and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Coordinates to provide in the moment feedback and education when errors are identified, or communicated from the OR.
    • Identifies and communicates in-service or educational opportunities observed throughout the department.
  • Supports the financial performance of the department through accurate interaction with information systems, supply utilization, and promotion of services.
    • Identifies and communicates any additional operating and capital budgetary needs to manager and adheres to annual budget and provides monthly reports in services as requested.
    • Provides direct monitoring of productivity on shift and makes adjustments in staffing to maintain optimum productivity and to comply within budgetary parameters.
  • Customer Service
    • Supports and maintains an effective liaison with other departments to promote the provision of quality patient care in a cost effective manner
    • Demonstrates, encourages, and evaluates and maintains a cost effective work environment.
    • Interacts with the Operating Room staff and Sterile Instrumentation staff performing problem solving and evaluation of the service provided.
    • Takes appropriate action to ensure complaints are addressed timely and satisfactorily, as well as escalated to the appropriate individual.
