Scrum Master

 

Responsibilities

The Scrum Master position duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Serving and supporting the Product Owner/operational stakeholder(s) and Scrum Team through ongoing strategic planning
  • Guiding and coaching the organization to higher levels of Agile maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
  • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving
  • Hold and facilitate Scrum ceremonies with the Scrum Team
  • Ensuring Sprint commitments are achieved without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
  • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
  • Supporting and educating the Product Owner/operational stakeholder(s), especially with respect to refining and managing the product backlog (i.e. clarifying requirements and assigning priority)
  • Form ad-hoc teams as needed to quickly address and resolve high-priority issues
  • Develop build plans and coordinate development activities to implement approved enhancements/changes. Ensure that all team members follow established change management processes in the production environment.
  • Contribute build and testing capacity to the Scrum Team when time allows
  • Support a Scrum-driven deployment of application updates, upgrades, and enhancements in assigned applications. Include testing and validation activities during these deployments.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and advisory groups as appropriate.
  • Serve as an escalation point to application management on day-to-day HR activities for Scrum Team staff. Participate in peer performance reviews, help recruit and hire team members, organize team celebrations, and provide process coaching when needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Requirements/preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, computer science or related field is preferred, Associate’s degree with equivalent experience considered.
  • 5 years of relevant Information Technology experience
  • Experience serving within a Scrum Team for no less than 6 months
  • Scrum Master or equivalent agile certification (i.e. PSM, CSM, PMI-ACP)
  • Expertise in hospital/clinical business processes and EHR systems preferred
  • Prior leadership experience preferred
