The Culinary Associate II:

Look no further!  The award-winning Kettering Health is hiring dependable, positive individuals to join our retail team of baristas, cashiers, grill cooks, grab and go prep and servers. We are looking for people who will embrace our mission and strive to nourish our patient’s families and staff with fresh, quality, cutting edge foods prepared in a clean and safe environment.

 

EXAMPLES OF POSSIBLE JOB TASKS

 

  • Prepares wholesome packaged grab-n-go salads, sandwiches etc. helping to nourish the hospital team and community
  • Creates memorable, personalized experiences by connecting with customers and by creating consistent coffee, tea and smoothie beverages
  • Makes a guest’s day by pleasantly answering and fulfilling customers’ requests by always being kind and being customer focused
  • Demonstrates the ability to prepare and grill foods for retail venues – cafes, coffee kiosks assigned, meeting time and meal standards.
  • Assures safe handling of money, operation of cash register, cashier reports, and deposits.
  • Demonstrates competency in the safe use, care, cleaning, and handling of equipment and keeps workstation and area clean and organized.  Reports malfunctions to the supervisor
  • Responsible for the safe handling, storing/labeling, and repurposing of leftover foods. Utilizes or notifies supervisor about products that are close to expiration.
  • Adheres to HACCP policies and procedures in the handling, preparation, service, storage of foods.
  • Accurately checks and records temperatures of foods upon cooking and prior to meal service.
  • Labels, dates, and stores all food/supply items according to departmental guidelines.
  • Complies with food laws and utilizes correct sanitizing processes for equipment, materials, and dishcloths.
  • Follows established workplace safety practices including personal, environmental and chemicals.

Job Qualifications:

Able to walk and stand for long periods of time

Able to push and pull wheeled carts

Able to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions

Able to tolerate frequent temperature changes, working around equipment that generates heat, steam and cold

 

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred. 
Food service or customer service experience preferred
