Job Overview:

To provide technical support to anesthesia services and facilitate activities related to this service via the acquisition, preparation and application of supplies, instruments, and equipment.  In this role they contribute to safe, efficient and cost-effective anesthesia care.  They provide support in anesthesia for routine and complex surgical cases by assisting in the preparation and maintenance of patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before and during anesthesia.  He/she works closely with the Department of Anesthesia and the staff of the Department of Surgical Services.

 

Job Responsibilities:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • On-the-job training Narkomed Biomedical Advanced Seminar
  • Recognizes inherent departmental hazards (explosives, cuts, burns, skin sensitivities) in the OR and maintains strict observance of safety practices and infection control.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of anesthesia equipment after appropriate education and training
  • Performs preventive maintenance on all anesthesia machines.
  • Maintains accurate records of each machine
  • Examines and sets up new machines and contracts company repairmen when necessary
  • Checks and records repairs needed throughout department weekly
  • Makes timely and ongoing decisions with information received from anesthesiologist and RN
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain anesthesia supplies and equipment.
  • Cleans, inspects, and restocks Pediatric Anesthesia Card.
  • Stocks and organizes Anesthesia Drug Cell.
  • Obtains additional anesthesia supplies from SPD as requested.
  • Orders adequate supplies
  • Demonstrates knowledge or an adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates up-to-date job knowledge
  • Uses medical center resources efficiently promoting fiscal responsibility.
  • Completes work assignments in a timely manner
