Department Overview

The Student Success Coach helps students develop skills, behaviors and habits that contribute to success in college. These includes academic and career goal setting, learning strategies, time management and organization, self-regulation, and self-efficacy 

 

This Student Success Coach will work alongside our pre-program students, guiding them towards success in gaining admission to their desired academic programs. The coach will track students’ academic engagement, be a conduit for resources across campus, and be an advocate for their academic future.  Additionally, this coach lead in our continuous development and implementation of our strategies of success course. 

 

Performs other duties as assigned. 

Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Build strong relationships with pre-program students to understand their academic aspirations and challenges. 
  • Conduct individualized coaching sessions with pre-program students to assess their readiness for admission to their desired programs and develop personalized action plans. 
  • Provide guidance and resources to help pre-program students improve their academic performance, develop essential study skills, and enhance their readiness for higher education. 
  • Assist pre-program students in identifying their academic and career goals, exploring different program options, and making informed decisions about their educational pathways. 
  • Collaborate with faculty members and program coordinators to ensure pre-program students receive comprehensive support and resources. 
  • Develop and facilitate workshops, seminars, and other educational activities tailored to the needs of pre-program students, focusing on topics such as goal setting, time management, academic planning, and career exploration. 
  • Monitor the progress of pre-program students and intervene proactively to address any academic, personal, or logistical challenges they may encounter. 
  • Assist pre-program students in navigating the admissions process, including understanding program requirements, preparing application materials, and meeting deadlines. 
  • Serve as an advocate for pre-program students and empower them to advocate for themselves throughout their academic journey. 
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions, progress, and outcomes. 

Preferred Qualifications

Skilled in student success and mentoring. Skilled in communication strategies and fostering relationships.
