Department Overview

Provides leadership, direction and coordination of hospital campus financial matters for Kettering Health Dayton, Soin/Greene and Hamilton campuses. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities & Requirements

JOB SUMMARY: Provides leadership, direction, and coordination of hospital campus financial matters and collaborates with other hospital senior leaders responsible for operations regarding efficiency and effectiveness in a manner consistent with organizational mission and objectives. Provides local hospital campus leadership to ensure consistency and accountability regarding financial stewardship. Provides local executive oversight of hospital campus finance & care management teams, as well as touchpoints for supporting system campus leaders of Patient Access/Revenue Cycle, Biomedical Services, and Supply Chain.

 

LEADERSHIP ROLES: As a member of the respective hospital executive teams, there are four distinct roles to provide an environment of growth and success.  These roles include; 1) Leading through vision and values – which includes modeling and mentoring the values of this organization; 2) Championing continuous improvement – by providing a secure environment in which initiative is encouraged and success recognized; 3) Building partnerships - which includes improving interpersonal relationships, nurturing people and the development of joint ventures with businesses in the community we serve, and; 4) Facilitating learning – by modeling a personal openness to change and grow professionally.  Effective leadership defines a strategic plan that is consistent with the organization’s mission, vision, and values; communicates the mission, vision, values and strategic plan throughout the organization; and fulfills the organization’s vision by providing the framework to accomplish the goals of the strategic plan and key result areas.

 

MANAGEMENT ROLES: Planning – Plan for the integration of organizational resources and programs within areas of responsibility that are consistent with the long-range plan of the system.   Ensure that the programs and objectives to promote excellent clinical outcomes, improved patient satisfaction, and optimal usage of resources are fully explained and supported across the hospital.  Coordinating – Monitor network activities and create an environment where organizational communication sufficiently crosses hospital boundaries to promote the achievement of organizational goals.    

 

Preferred Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

1.         Master's degree required.

2.         CPA or HFMA Fellowship preferred.

3.         Participation in appropriate continuing education courses.

4.         Five to seven years of experience in a similar position is required.

 

Knowledge and Abilities:

1.          Knowledge in areas of healthcare finance, goverment regulations, management theory, reimbursement, budgeting, health technologies, and other areas as appropriate.

2.          Excellent human relations and oral and written communications skills.

3.          Positive demeanor in one's approach to dealing with people and problems.

4.          Membership in appropriate professional organizations is considered a necessary element of this position and participation in community organizations that will enhance the effectiveness of the incumbent, or the hospital is encouraged.
