Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Subjected to interruptions in work flow, requiring excellent multitasking skills. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls, drug information, or medication safety inquiries.
Physical Demands:
Light physical effort (lift/carry up to 10 lbs). Frequent prolonged standing/walking. Occasionally lifts supplies/equipment. Manual dexterity and mobility. Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
The Medication Safety Clinical Pharmacist works collaboratively with the Kettering Health Medication Safety Officer. Participates in various multidisciplinary teams related to safe medication use, patient safety, policy review, and others as necessary. Continually prioritize the efficient use and maintenance of the Drug library within the Intravenous Smart Pump system. Develop and provide necessary education on a system wide level related to safe medication practices. Proactively track, trend and analyze medication safety data to identify areas for opportunities to enhance medication and patient safety. Reviews high volume, high risk, and problem prone or critical aspects of care processes for prioritization of potential medication safety improvements or initiatives. Serves as a resource to the organization on medication safety matters. Assists in the development and review of pharmacy, hospital or organization related medication use policies and procedures related to safe medication safe practices and comply with regulatory standards. Proactively engages with all pharmacy sites, pharmacy leadership, staff, and other team members to promote medication safety practices.
