Responsibilities & Requirements

RN First Assist (RNFA) job duties:

  • Assists physicians in surgery and may perform specific significant surgical tasks under professional supervision.
  • Surgical tasks include, but are not limited to, opening and closing surgical sites, exposure of the surgical site, harvesting grafts, dissecting tissue, removing tissue, implanting devices, and altering tissues.
  • Under professional supervision, the RNFA performs task which include, but are not limited to, applying and removing splints and/or casts, placing Foley catheters, placing IV’s, placing arterial lines, administering local anesthesia, and other such procedures as requested and necessary.

 

Applicants Must Have:

  • Current RN license in State of Ohio
  • Minimum of 24 months RN experience in an OR required.
  • Successful completion of approved RNFA course
  • Current BLS certification
  • ACLS, NRP, and PALS as determined by unit scope of practice

Preferred Qualifications

Achievement of CNOR certification, CRNA preferred
