Responsibilities & Requirements

The Patient Educator position duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist the Community Outreach Department with organizing, implementing and maintaining wellness activities by utilizing their professional knowledge and experience as it relates to their field of expertise
  • Regularly participate in and promote wellness programs, including public presentations, with concentration on health promotion, disease prevention, screenings and lifestyle modification
  • The Patient Educator will refer clients as needed to KHN physicians and services and will track and measure outcomes as mandated
  • Will act as the liaison at events and will promote and use service lines in the development of programs specifically designed to meet the needs of the community
  • The Patient Educator will regularly enhance knowledge base by staying current in health information provided by nationally recognized health organizations
  • The Patient Educator is highly motivated with the ability to work independently of others
  • Regularly participates in and promotes wellness programs, including public presentations, with concentration on health promotion, disease prevention, screenings and lifestyle modification

Job Requirements

  • Assocaite's degree
  • Registered Nurse (Current Ohio nursing license)
  • Current BLS /CPR certification
  • One or more years of medical office experience
  • Minimum of six months clinical nursing experience
  • Computer literate and very strong with Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Requires the ability to lift 30-50 pounds as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with biometric screenings 
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Public speaking, teaching and/or mentoring experience
  • Previous experience in Community Health, Health Promotion, or Social Work
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
