Responsibilities & Requirements

Performs standard and atypical 12-Lead EKG’s, Cardiac Stress Tests, Holter Monitors, Tilt Table Exams, and EKG report editing on both inpatients and outpatients. Department training preceptor for all staff on standard and atypical 12-Lead EKG’s, Cardiac Stress Tests, Holter Monitors, Tilt Table Exams, EKG report editing. Provides inter and intradepartmental training, continuing education, and office support for all Kettering Medical Center, Sycamore Medical Center, Indu and Raj Soin Medical Center, KMC Diagnostic Cardiology locations, and Kettering Behavioral Medical Center departments. Serves as float Stress Tech for KMC Diagnostic Cardiology locations. Scans Holter monitor studies for clinical accuracy. Point person for operational troubleshooting needs, especially crucial when manager is at other locations – this will decrease turnaround time required for issue resolution, and therefore, will increase inter and intradepartmental staff morale. Under general supervision does technical work in the conducting of noninvasive cardiovascular studies on inpatients and outpatients of all ages. This may include EKGs, stress testing, and Holter monitor applications. This position will be responsible for establishing new quality initiatives and keeping the department, as well as, the technologists up to date with the most current trends. Team leaders will have a key role in helping to evaluate the clinical performance of their team members. As a part of the leadership team, team leaders will focus on communication, organization, education and promoting involvement of all team members.

 

• Operates 12 channel EKG machine, analyze and transmit all EKGS
• Performs STAT and routine EKGs at bedside
• Set up all department orders (treadmills, holters, echoes and EKGS) looks up previous study, assembles EKGs for interpretation.
• Types all changes in editing terminal after EKGs have been interpreted, assuring high accuracy rate.
• Performs typing, copying and faxing as needed.
• Prepares patients for treadmills and conducts stress tests.
• Applies Holter monitors.
• Assists in locating reports when contacted by individuals outside of the department.
• Helps cover work shifts as needed.

 

Minimum Education
Graduate of high school program (or equivalent) with basic computer skills.
 
Required Skills
Ability to learn the mechanical aspects of properly processing noninvasive cardiac studies. Adapts to new skills with adequate training and information. Understands and carries out oral and written instructions. Works effectively with other technicians, supervisors and physicians. Interactions required with patients, coworkers and office staffs. Ability to effectively transport and position patients for procedures is required. Multiple demands can be made at one time that will need to be addressed in an appropriate manner.
