Responsibilities & Requirements

Provides a broad range of communications and marketing support to the College. The Communication Specialist works closely with the Public Relations Director. Manages and updates the College’s website content. Coordinates and collaborates with Director on strategic consulting, campaigns, including marketing strategy. Functions as assistant editor for the College’s biannual magazine and helps develop and facilitate content and design. Writes, edits, and composes external and internal publications and non-print media. Manages social media platforms and works closely with Director on implementing system and college corporate branding and graphic design for publications and digital media. Assists departments on advertisement, promotion, coordination, and organization of campus events and activities. Works closely with director on providing communication counsel for emergency crisis. Reports to: Kettering College Director of PR & Marketing.

Job Responsibilities

  • Mandatory education and/or clinical competencies completed.    
  • Annual Basic Safety Education completed on time.

  • Stays current with higher education and leadership.
  • In conjunction with the marketing and communication work group, formulates implements, evaluates and revises an integrated marketing plan for promoting KC among its constituents.   
  • Uses data to augment decision-making processes for the most effective use of college resources.
  • In conjunction with the recruitment and admissions offices, develops and updates specific promotional materials for the college, providing creative ideas and messaging, and excellent follow-through.
  • Develops and produces college publications, including Pacesetter, biweekly campus news (email) letter and various video projects.
  • Assists and works with Public Relations Director for campus events.
  • Researches, produces and distributes copy, news releases, stories, etc. regularly for appropriate print and broadcast media (Adventist, local, web newsletters, e-mail).
  • Works with outside vendor to maintain college website. Utilizes content management system to update site as needed.
  • Manages Social Media platforms and its presence for KC.
  • Works with and assists Public Relations Director on campus wide alert system.
  • Works collaboratively with departments for public relations and recruiting needs.
  • Assists in formulating and managing communication plan from student to prospect.

Minimum Education

  • Baccalaureate degree required in Communication, Business, Marketing, Journalism, English or related area.

Minimum Work Experience

  • At least three years’ experience in public relations, communication or marketing.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in SDA educational environments strongly preferred.
