Responsibilities & Requirements

Job Description:

The Medication Assistance Counselor is responsible for assisting patients in accessing medication assistance programs and ensuring the timely and efficient processing of applications, approvals, and denials. This role involves communication with patients, medical offices, and assistance programs, as well as maintaining accurate records of all actions taken. Additionally, the Medication Assistance Counselor will assist the Medication Assistance Coordinator as needed to ensure smooth operations and the completion of tasks related to medication assistance programs.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Tasks:

  • Review and manage emails, staff messages, and Teams messages for both personal and shared inboxes.
  • Address faxes received for KHMG medication assistance and forward them as necessary.
  • Return voicemails from patients, programs, or offices regarding KHMG assistance.
  • Forward referrals, calls, and faxes for other teams to the Coordinator for review.
  • Add incoming FAA & POI to Media Manager via OnBase, ensuring they are uploaded if not already in the system.
  • Process assistance approvals and denials as they arrive.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date notes in the Hospital Account using appropriate Account Activities for all actions taken.

 

Requirements:

 

· High school diploma or GED

· Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician

· Excellent written and oral communication skills
