Responsibilities & Requirements

Clinically in training minister responsible for providing spiritual care to our primary customers, partners, and team members. Participates as a member of the healthcare team in evaluating spiritual needs of patients and providing appropriate interventions to meet such needs always under the supervision of the CPE preceptor and CPE educator. Fosters a sense of mission that enhances a culture of trust, experience of belonging, and a sense of mission within the hospital and the healthcare team. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

 

 
 
The resident Chaplain is responsible to develop and create operational alignment in these areas:

• Demonstrates KH core values of belonging, wholeness, excellence, learning and leadership.
• Assesses emotional and spiritual needs of staff and patients and provides appropriate interventions.
• Receive referrals and follow up within 24 hours.
• Develops a pastoral care plan by identifying objectives, interventions and outcomes
• Manages on-call duty (nights, weekends, holidays)
• Recruits and Manages volunteers
• Conducts patient visitation to meet the KH goals
• Participates in patient care rounds
• Communicates appropriate information to the interdisciplinary team. Be intentionally part of the interdisciplinary team.
• Educates staff on the role and function of the chaplain
• Provides support to staff, demonstrating compassion and effective leadership
• Coordinates worship and religious services for special dates.
• Lead worship services and devotionals for staff.
• Provides grief and loss support to patients and staff.
• Be involved in the local Ministerial Association and/or a Service Club.
• Provide one on one Pastoral Counseling to staff
• Lead and/or coordinates support groups
• Lead and support families with End of Life issues, funeral and bereavement services.
• Manages the Care Ambassador program recruiting and in-service
• Be part of the back-up on-call schedule to support our KH chaplains.
• Assists in the education of CPE residents and interns as indicated
• Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Education
Undergrad or master’s degree (done or in process) in the theological or pastoral field or equivalent

Equivalent degrees that will be considered:
• Masters or Doctoral degree in nursing
• Masters or Doctoral degree in Counseling or Psychology
• Masters or Doctoral degree in Social Work
• Or meaningful and comparable ministerial-pastoral experience assessed by the CPE center's admissions committee.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Work Experience
• Congregational pastoral experience preferred.
