Responsibilities & Requirements

Integration engineers set up, administer, and maintain data sharing/transmission among Kettering Health applications and external, third-party systems.  They ensure that all interfaces meet Kettering Health privacy standards, HIPAA requirements, and other regulations.  Integration engineers are responsible for the entire life cycle of interface development, including analysis, design, specification, implementation, go‐live, and support.   

 

Job Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
Minimum Work Experience 
  • 5+ years of experience as an integration engineer or related field.
  • Epic Bridges Certification.
  • InterSystems Ensemble Integration Engine Certification.
Required Skills
  • Experience with the Intersystem Ensemble Integration Engine
  • Experience with HL7, XML, and EPIC interfaces
  • Prior experience working in healthcare industry with Epic EMR
  • Epic Chronicles Database Programmer Certification
Job Responsibilities
  • Set up, administer, and maintain data sharing/transmission among KH applications and external, third-party systems
  • Ensure that all interfaces meet KH privacy standards, HIPAA requirements, and other regulations
  • Adhere to KH Information Systems framework and values
  • Participate on project teams to identify interface support needed to complete application installations, upgrades, and enhancements
  • Manage the entire life cycle of interface development, including analysis, design, specification, implementation, go‐live, and support
  • Coordinate the implementation of final interfaces into production with the appropriate customers, vendors, and IS team members
  • Utilize and troubleshoot standard HL7 communication methods including TCP/IP and SFTP
  • Triage and resolve incident tickets regarding interface problems
  • Ensure integrity of shared data extracts
  • Develop workflow automations using the Ensemble Integration Engine
  • Review peer code development for validity
  • Serve as administrator for Ensemble Integration Engine
  • Train/mentor new members of the team
  • Stay current with API technologies (FHIR, REST, and SOAP) and share that knowledge with the team
  • Stay current with healthcare-industry interface standards and share that knowledge with the team
  • Assist in developing standards and processes for developing and maintaining KH interfaces
  • Facilitate/assist with team code reviews
  • Stay current with Epic and InterSystems Ensemble Integration Engine and share that knowledge with the team
  • Stay current with the interoperability landscape and share that knowledge with the team
