As a Surgical Technician First Assist, your mission is to embrace best-in-class nursing processes to provide excellence in nursing care to your patients in all settings and in collaboration with other health care providers.  Further responsibilities include: 

• Accountability for your professional development and practice within the scope of care defined by law
• Utilizing organizational resources, you will act as a patient advocate for the delivery of safe care including delegation of care and participation in performance and practice improvement activities
• Deliver nursing care that reflects the mission, vision, values and philosophies, of the organization, nursing departments and Kettering Health Network as whole
• Assist physicians in surgery and may perform specific significant surgical tasks under professional supervision
• Surgical tasks include, but are not limited to, opening and closing surgical sites, exposure of the surgical site, harvesting grafts, dissecting tissue, removing tissue, implanting devices, and altering tissues
• Under professional supervision, apply and remove splints and/or casts, place Foley catheters, IV’s, arterial lines, administer local anesthesia and other such procedures as requested and necessary

Requirements:

• Associates in Surgical Technology from an approved school.
• Two years current experience as an OR Surgical Technician.
• National certification for Surgical First Assist or Surgical Assistant.
• Current BLS certification.
