Job Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include:

1. Designs and facilitates learning experiences supporting department and college outcomes.

2. Meets professional obligations, such as office hours, committee appointments, and deadlines.

3. Anticipates change, adapts smoothly to change, and when appropriate, effects change.

4. Is a strong contributor to all appropriate teams, exhibiting Christian collegiality in team relationships.

5. Supports Higher Learning Commission projects for continuous quality improvement.

6. Routinely evaluates own learning needs and exhibits continuously improving outcomes.

7. Is a role model for professional behavior that supports our institutional values (Trustworthy, Innovative, Caring, Competent, and Collaborative).

8. Participates regularly in appropriate meetings and faculty development activities, including those sponsored by the College, Kettering Health, and professional organizations.

9. Uses college resources efficiently.

13. Completes all mandatory education and/or clinical competencies.

14. Holds current, unencumbered and unrestricted Ohio RN license.

16. Designs workflow to facilitate service to students.

17. Communicates skillfully and compassionately with others.

18. Professionally helps students even when their anger, distress, or other conditions make learning difficult.

19. Stays professionally current.

20. Is knowledgeable of curriculum processes and effectively uses evidenced-based teaching approaches.

21. Plans students’ clinical experiences and evaluates students’ performance in alignment with expected curriculum outcomes.

22. Communicates clinical outcomes to student, preceptor, and staff at clinical site.

23. Provides for appropriate supervision of students in the clinical setting, in accordance with Ohio Board of Nursing regulations.

24. Participates in the utilization of and or research projects to advance nursing education and practice.

25. Works collaboratively with preceptors in the education of students in clinical settings.

26. Facilitates communication between the preceptor, student, and instructor.

27. Provides the preceptor with orientation information regarding the program of study and roles of the student, preceptor, and instructor.

28. Is available to the preceptor and student for assistance and clarification through rounds, phone, or pager.

29. Functions as a resource in any issues surrounding the professional development of the student.

30. Objectively and subjectively evaluates the student’s performance, incorporating feedback from the preceptor.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: Earned Master’s degree required, in nursing. BSN degree in nursing.

Must hold an BSN and MS earned from an approved and accredited institution and nursing program.

If faculty is not a nurse, see college education requirements.

Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Current, valid, unencumbered and unrestricted Ohio RN license.

At least 2 years of experience in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse required. If faculty is not a nurse, licensure is not required.

Professional/Affiliations: Membership in appropriate professional organizations is considered a necessary element of this position. Participation in community organizations enhancing the effectiveness of the college is encouraged.
