Department Overview

The Vice President of Patient Care, Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for ensuring consistency in the standard of nursing practice across the clinical settings. The VP/CNO supports and facilitates an interdisciplinary team approach to the overall delivery of care to patients, families, and the community. This includes creating an environment in which collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care, education, and research is promoted and achieved. The VP/CNO leads quality, safety and innovation initiatives in partnership with other executive team members. The VP/CNO identifies and articulates the vision and strategic direction for the delivery of patient care and the discipline of nursing across all patient care settings; directing and collaborating on the implementation of strategies to achieve organizational and network goals. In conjunction with other executive leadership, the VP/CNO participates in strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical programs and services, assuring appropriate resources for the delivery of care. The VP/CNO ensures the vision of and the advancement of the profession of nursing.

Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Extensive experience in nursing practice, preferably with a background in leadership roles within healthcare organizations
  • Progressive and satisfactory experience at the Director or Vice President level in a multi-specialty hospital
  • Demonstrated strong leadership abilities with the capacity to oversee multiple departments and initiatives effectively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Commitment to a purpose and willingness to work tenaciously toward said purpose
  • Ability to conceptualize, verbalize, create and attain goals
  • Ability to energize and empower individuals
  • Ability to work under stressful situations
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize and manage financial data

 

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Master’s Degree of Nursing, or master’s degree in healthcare related field required
