Responsibilities & Requirements

Skills and Experience:

Knowledge – The clinical pharmacist should have a broad understanding of:

  • Strong knowledge of medication effectiveness and impact of medications on patient care
  • Health care technologies used in the medication selection process
  • Pharmaceutical care
  • Clinical expertise
  • Change management concepts
  • Ability to review information and data to help in designing clinical programs
  • Concepts of risk and prioritization, statistics, population data
  • Performance improvement methodologies and tools
  • Standards of practice related to medication use
  • Accreditation process, standards, and regulations

 

Skills - The Clinical Pharmacist should demonstrate excellence in the following skills:

  • Verbal communication and presentation (small and large group)
  • Written communication, editing
  • Active listening
  • Time management
  • Project management
  • Analytical
  • Safe system/process design

 

Abilities - The Clinical Pharmacist should possess the ability to perform the following:

  • Facilitate practice change
  • Collaborate with staff at all levels
  • Effectively provide education
  • Synthesize solutions
  • Apply standards of practice to improve patient care
  • Apply defined strategies and protocols
  • Function proactively vs. reactively
  • Write clear and concise policy and procedures

 

Minimum Education:

  • Graduated with B.S. in Pharmacy or PharmD from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Active Registered Pharmacist License in the State of Ohio 

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience:

  • Three years inpatient hospital pharmacy experience and or completion of ASHP accredited pharmacy residency program
  • Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships
  • Flexible attitude and ability to adapt to schedule and workload changes
  • Professional presentation and demeanor
  • Collaboration skills and effective written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing Pharmacy Practices and Pharmacy professionals
