Job Responsibilities:

• Performs decontamination on instruments, equipment, and other items as needed.
• Sorts and cleans instruments and equipment by hand and/or washer/disinfectant.
• Assembles, wraps, and packages instruments, instrument trays, and supplies.
• Sterilizes instruments and supplies using STERRAD, steam and ethylene oxide gas sterilizers as trained. 
• “Picks” instruments, instrument trays, supplies, in a timely matter for surgery. 
• Performs basic computer functions using a Windows based system as needed.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED

Required Licenses
Other
Sterile Processing certification required through either the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), the Certification Body for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Association of Surgical Technologist (CST)

Minimum Work Experience
One year of sterile processing or materials distribution experience preferred.

Required Skills
Ability to work independently in all areas of Sterile Processing: decontamination, preparation/packaging, sterilization, sterile storage and case carts.
Basic computer skills necessary

• Previous related experience and certification strongly preferred.
