Responsibilities & Requirements
Primary job functions include verification of insurance benefits and precertification/authorization of injectable and infused medications given at the four infusion centers for Kettering Cancer Care prior to treatment. Communication to clinical team for denied prior authorizations and next steps for appeal or peer to peer options. Responsible for precertification of direct admissions for oncology services. Serves to identify and direct patients/families to Financial Navigators for review of eligibility of PAP/indigent programs. Works in tandem with Oncology Service Line Manager to maintain up to date payor/payment information in the EMR. Interacts with ancillary departments and social services to assist patients with medication assistance and insurance questions; accept other related duties as assigned, as needed.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College degree preferred in finance or healthcare field or any related field of study.
- Previous Healthcare experience and medical terminology knowledge preferred
- Demonstrates Competency in working in teams and ability to effectively communicate at all levels.
- Ability to function in high-paced, often stressful environment and/or circumstances while maintaining a respectful, caring, and professional manner.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in using computer software, i.e.
- EPIC, Excel, Microsoft Word, and email.
- Proficient in phone skills and customer service knowledge.
