Responsibilities & Requirements

JOB SUMMARY

 

Under general supervision performs high quality echocardiograms and vascular ultrasounds following ICAEL and ICAVL accredited guidelines. Individuals in this position will work closely with Cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and Radiologists. Must be able to exercise initiative and independent judgment. Technologist must be knowledgeable of techniques and patient positioning to produce high quality ultrasound images. Individuals in this position must be able to exercise independent judgment and initiative. Work with all segments of patient populations, including adults, and geriatric patients. There is the potential for infections from contact with infected patients. Also, there is possibly some contact with processing chemicals and other hazardous materials. Work hours can, at times, be irregular with the need to accept overtime and being on call. The work is physically demanding with the need for a lot of standing, bending, and lifting.

 

Minimum education Graduate of accredited school of ultrasound/sonography. Registered in Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography (RDCS) and Vascular Technology (RVT). Required Skills Knowledge of human anatomy and spatial relationships of all cardiovascular structures.

Ability to work well with cardiologists, physicians, technicians and hospital personnel.

Ability to correlate images and patient history to particular pathologies so that the interpreting physician is provided with adequate diagnostic information.

Ablility to learn new procedures and operate new equipment.

Able to work quickly, efficiently, accurately and methodically. Ability to move and position patients for testing is necessary.

This is a very busy, moderately stressful patient care area.

 Completes studies in Merge Cardio in a timely manner for physician review Performs inpatient and outpatient venous and arterial ultrasounds

 Works closely with cardiologist in providing quality interpretation of patient testing

Preferred Qualifications

Need to be RDCS and RVT credentialed.  Must have one certification to be onboarded while other must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
