Responsibilities & Requirements

*This is a time-limited role*

 

The Administrative Intern provides support to organizational development and human resources initiatives by assisting with administrative projects, data analysis, and operational activities. This role offers hands-on experience in healthcare administration, contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of Kettering Health’s non-clinical operations. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program. 

Preferred Qualifications

Education

Required Education:

  • Enrollment in or completion of a Bachelor’s degree program in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Human Resources, or a related field.

Preferred Education:

  • Enrollment in or completion of a Master’s degree program in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Human Resources, or a related field.

Work Experience

Required Work Experience:

  • No prior work experience required.
  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare administration or organizational development.

Preferred Work Experience:

  • Previous internship or work experience in a healthcare or administrative setting.

Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to regulatory standards.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with planning, organizing, and supporting administrative projects and organizational development initiatives.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data to support decision-making and process improvement efforts.
  • Participate in daily operational activities, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and coordinating events.
  • Draft, edit, and distribute communications, reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support compliance with organizational policies, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements by following established procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members and departments to facilitate project goals and operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Provide general administrative support such as filing, data entry, and responding to routine inquiries.
  • Observe and participate in meetings, trainings, and other learning opportunities to gain exposure to healthcare administration.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency.
