Responsibilities & Requirements

The Periop Compliance Specialist Sr is responsible for:

  • Auditing accounts for accuracy
  • Resolving complex charge problems
  • Responding to Medical Records Audits (ARMS)
  • Assisting with FDA, OIL and other internal/external audits
  • Coding compliance audits and corrections
  • Charge entry education to staff
  • Facilitates Network OR Charge Auditors group
  • Daily Dollar Report Review and trending – reporting findings as needed to management
  • Maintaining/updating EPIC charge capture for areas of responsibility
  • Facilitating new procedures for the charge capture side
  • Trending payer reimbursements as requested
  • Auditing complex vascular charges routinely and recommending corrections/process changes
  • Triggering and posting of charges for OR procedures to the GL
  • Payroll – handling critical expectations and complex employee issues; processing payroll corrections as needed; presentation to managers at biweekly Managers Meetings.
  • charge posting and charge reconciliation of surgical services patient accounts and must also have a basic knowledge of the Perioperative Process and experience in charge posting/account reconciliation
  • Oversight of daily operations of one other staff member
  • Other duties as assigned

Applicants are required to have:

  • BS degree in relevant field or equivalent in experience required. 
  • Experience in patient accounting and hospital billing required.

  •  

    Medical Coding or Billing audit experience.

  •  

    Personal computer, data entry, spreadsheets and word processing skills required.

  •  

    Ability to maintain financial records and prepare routine reports.

  •  

    Ability to make mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.

  •  

    Demonstrate leadership ability.

  •  

    Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors, and the public in the performance of duties.

  •

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants are preferred to have:

 

  • Registered Nurse or Surgical Tech strongly preferred.
