The Grandview Medical Center Police Department operates 24/7/365 as a private police department recognized by the State of Ohio. Our department currently provides police services to six Kettering Health Network facilities, (Grandview, Southview, Soin, and Greene Memorial Medical Centers, Huber Heights and Preble County Emergency Departments).

Responsibilities & Requirements

Police officers responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide proactive monitoring and timely response to potential and/or actual security threats.
  • Patrols on foot primarily interior posts and exterior points of egress within the medical facilities jurisdiction.
  • Performs rounding through assigned medical center areas to provide police presence and a safe environment for our staff, visitors and patients.
  • Investigate and manage all police incidents and hazards on premises.
  • Interview witnesses, gathering facts and documents for investigations in order to write a detailed comprehensive report of the incidents while maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Conducts preliminary and follow up investigations of police related incidents when necessary.
  • Testifies in court and hearings regarding criminal activity and arrests.
  • Immediately respond to emergency situations within the interior locations of the medical center including Behavioral Health units.
  • Knowledge in applying appropriate ORC elements in criminal arrest situations.
  • Exercise statutory and policing authority in making arrest and apprehensions to include deadly force if necessary.
  • Must maintain firearm qualification and all other statutory requirements standards set forth by the OPOTC.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including de-escalation Crisis Intervention Techniques, in all situations to include stressful circumstances.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.


  • Must possess an active and valid certification from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA).
  • Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain eligibility of insurability to operate the organization’s vehicles.
