    Kettering College is looking for a Director for the Respiratory Care Program which has been an essential part of our half-century of graduate and undergraduate education in the health sciences, partnered with an outstanding Seventh-day Adventist health network – KHN.


    Kettering College is seeking a collaborative academic leader who will bring fresh ideas, as well as the capabilities and experience necessary to develop and implement the plans to make those ideas happen. The department offers an innovative 3-year Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care, as well as a bachelors completion degree.  Both are accredited by CoARC, which has honored Kettering College with the Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success award for the past four consecutive years. Our goal is to ensure that our graduates remain the most employable professionals in health care, distinguished by their integrity, character and expertise.

    Responsibilities & Requirements

    The program chair implements the mission of the college through day-to-day leadership of the program. An ideal candidate will be one who:

    • Sets the tone and develops a successful team of faculty who work together to achieve departmental goals.
    • Demonstrates leadership through change management and continuous improvement for the department.
    • Sets expectations in the College and the department for the development of a vibrant, forward-looking respiratory care curriculum that prepares graduates for the healthcare environment.
    • Draws ideas from department faculty, College faculty/staff, other respiratory care programs, respiratory care professional organizations, and respiratory care practice experts to contribute to curriculum enhancement.
    • Leads the department’s development and use of outcomes assessments, where available, to inform curricular and department decisions.
    • Facilitates positive external relationships with important college stakeholders.
    • Maintains compliance with professional accreditation criteria (CoARC).
    • In collaboration with the academic dean, hires and manages adjunct and regularly contracted respiratory care faculty.
    • Oversees the development and management of the department’s budgets.
    • Advocates for faculty development opportunities, including resources for continuing education and graduate pursuits.
    • Represents the Respiratory Care program at professional organizations.



    • Education: Must have earned a master’s degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
    • Experience: Minimum 4 years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist; of which at least two (2) years must include experience in clinical respiratory care.  Minimum of two (2) years experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.      
    • Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care and licensed by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board as a Respiratory Care Professional.
    • Personal: Evidence of professional and scholarly activities.
    • Professional/Affiliations: Membership in appropriate professional organizations is considered a necessary element of this position. Participation in community organizations enhancing the effectiveness of the College is encouraged.
