    Kettering College is looking for a Director Libraries. The Library and Learning Commons are an essential part of our half-century of graduate and undergraduate education in the health sciences, partnered with an outstanding Seventh-day Adventist health network – KHN. 

    The Kettering College library collaborates on relevant healthcare programs such as medical center libraries and organization archives.  The College library offers rich resources for its patrons, due in part to the connection with the OhioLINK system through an affiliation with Wright State University. 

    Responsibilities & Requirements

    The director implements the mission of the college through day-to-day leadership of the learning commons. An ideal candidate will be one who:

    • Sets the tone and develops a successful team of librarians who work together to achieve departmental goals;
    • Demonstrates leadership through change management and continuous improvement for the department;
    • Sets expectations in the College and the department for the development of a vibrant, forward-looking learning commons that prepares graduates for the healthcare environment;
    • Develops and implements strategic goals for the learning commons;
    • Plans and implements the operations of the learning commons;
    • Prepared, administers, and monitors learning commons budget;
    • Ensures effective library support for teaching and learning;
    • Promotes and advocates for the library services, internally and externally;
    • Promotes and facilitates staff development;
    • Supervises the library personnel;
    • Facilitates positive external relationships with important college stakeholders.

     

    Requirements:

    • An American Library Association-accredited master’s degree in library/information science (required);
    • About three years minimum of proven supervisory experience in libraries;
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
    • The ability to collaborate with both internal and external constituencies;
    • The ability to promote and market the libraries’ services and collections;
    • A customer service focus;
    • Expertise in utilizing current information technologies.
