The Supervisor is responsible for the coordination of work performed by staff engaged in housekeeping activities within the Environmental Services Department. Organize, coordinate, oversee and control the workflow of assigned staff, assuring a high standard of cleanliness in assigned areas within the facility. Assist with scheduling and assignment of duties to provide adequate coverage for assigned shift, using discretion to adjust work schedules as necessary to accommodate call-ins, PTO requests or other staff absences. Review manpower utilization, comparing against established standards and department budgets and justify variances encountered. Inspect and evaluate the physical conditions of the hospital and effectively recommend staffing adjustments to correct deficiencies, improve sanitation, appearance and cleaning efficiency. Maintain knowledge of current trends and industry developments in order to enhance expertise. Maintain open communication and acts as liaison between shifts and other departments in order to ensure service delivery, workflow process and continuity. Assist Manager in setting agenda and conducting staff meetings with assigned employees on a routine basis to discuss problems, disciplinary actions, coaching, changes in policy, new procedures, other department issues, evaluations, and hiring decisions to ensure a more efficient and economical operation. Assist in the maintenance of statistical data and reporting systems to include timekeeping, productivity reports, product utilization, work activity, KRA’s, Accountability Grids, project logs, discharge logs and quality assurance checks. Assist in special projects and research to update techniques, study cost savings through lean manufacturing principles and continuous quality improvement. Instruct and train employees under the scope of their job responsibilities and the needs of the department. Demonstrate new products, equipment and procedures.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Minimum of a two year college degree required, previous leadership/supervisory experience preferred 

-Preferred IEHA/ CHESP industry certifications upon hire or ability to obtain the certification within one year in the assigned position.
- 2 years previous housekeeping experience required
- Bachelors prepared individual will be considered if they meet housekeeping requirements


Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and abilities:
Knowledge of standards housekeeping procedures, equipment usage and cleaning products
-Knowledge of AOA, JCAHO, DOH, OSHA, DOT and other accrediting/regulatory standards affecting the Environmental Services operations
-Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
-Willingness to learn and adapt to new ideas, concepts and management models 
-Ability to use a computer for documentation, training, timekeeping and correspondences
-Ability to work efficiently under pressure 
-Ability to work rotating shifts, nights and weekends
-Ability to be flexible, creative and supportive of management decisions
-Ability to build positive working relationships with employees, peers and clinical staff
-Ability to make independent decisions and exercise good judgment
-Ability to assist Manager and assume limited job responsibilities during absence
